Immunity - Resistance exhibited by the host towards injury caused by microbes and their products.
Types:
Innate (Native) immunity
Acquired (Adaptive) immunity
Innate immunity: Resistance to infections that an individual possesses by virtue of his genetic or constitutional make up.
Non - specific and exhibits general resistance to infections.
Acquired immunity: Resistance developed as a result of an antigenic stimulus.
Requires active functioning of the hosts's immune apparatus.
Requires synthesis antigen specific antibodies.
This is as of now a general and a short introduction to Immunology.
We will be discussing various other mechanisms involved in depth in coming days.
Thank you:)
